Big Blue Facelift + An Homage to Whitman
And now, a few photos for this crazy Friday afternoon.
Facelift for Big Blue
Good ole Beauregarde. So loyal. So useful! We finally got around to sticking the giant logo on his back yesterday. What do you think?
A Little Inspiration to Rally the Troops
Whitman has long been a favorite of the Fool, so of course we would immortalize him in this 15-foot-high homage:
(Thanks to intern David for making this happen and for doing such a great job with it.)
Meet the Book Fool Trucks: Clifford and Beauregarde
Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s official! Thank you for your participation in the naming of our red and blue trucks. We had 50 votes on the names. Fifty!!!
The results were varied, but we have two clear winners.
Clifford the Big Read Truck
Originally suggested by Alex Beaver of TXTBookRental, Clifford quickly gained traction. There was also a strong faction of Fools lobbying hard for Big Red (which evolved into Big Read) until Rex H. solved our problem by combining the two names.
Here are the voting results:

And here’s Clifford on his maiden voyage to pick up books. Before being loaded down:

And after:
Beauregarde

This name was inspired by Violet Beauregarde of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the girl who steals Wonka’s prototype gum that turns her blue and causes her to inflate like a giant blueberry:

There are also echoes of Blooregard Q. Kazoo from the excellent Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends.

This name was first suggested by your truly. Frankly, I’m surprised it won, though I like it a lot. The results were a little more tight in this race:

Close but no cigar for Babe the Blue Ox.
So what do you think?
Leave your thoughts in the comments. Thanks to all of you for voting! We’ll post more pics of both trucks when we get the names painted on the doors.
